ScrapBuilt Plans: License and Terms of Sale

Applies to every ScrapBuilt plan package, including Furnace V1 (waste-oil, aluminium/brass) Rev B: Plans PDF and Pro, including Founder orders (code FOUNDER25). Last updated: October 20, 2026. 1. What you are buying

A digital download: 18 A3 sheets (cover/index + 17 drawings), a build guide, calculations, a parts list and (Pro only) CAD files and a parts spreadsheet. You are buying a license to use information, not a finished product, a kit, a certified design or engineering services. No physical goods ship.

2. Design status

Furnace V1 is a Rev B design package that has not yet been field-built or tested. It was checked by two automated (AI-run) design reviews; ERROR-level findings were addressed on paper, and 9 open risks remain that need a real build to close. Real-world performance, temperatures, melt times, fuel use and costs are model estimates. Read the Safety Disclaimer (included in every download) before you buy, and again before you build.

3. License you receive

When payment clears, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

read, print and use the plans to build furnaces for your own personal use (one buyer, any number of personal builds);
open and edit the DXF and spreadsheet files (Pro) for your own builds, including sending them to a cutting or fabrication shop solely to make parts for your own build;
sell castings and other items you make with a furnace built from these plans, and sell the services of that furnace (for example casting for others). We claim no share of, or rights in, anything you make with it.

4. What you may not do

Resell, share, upload, publish, sublicense, give away or otherwise redistribute the plans, PDFs, DXFs, spreadsheets or any substantial part of them, in original or modified form, paid or free (including torrents, forums, file-sharing sites, Discord/Telegram groups, AI training datasets).
Sell or advertise furnaces built from these plans as a product line, or sell kits, cut-part sets or "plans-based" builds commercially, without a written commercial license from us. (Ask: [email protected].)
Present the plans or a furnace built from them as certified, listed, approved or professionally engineered.
Remove copyright notices, revision stamps or safety warnings.

Showing your build online (photos, videos, write-ups, small screenshots of a drawing for discussion) is welcome. Please link to scrapbuilt.com instead of posting the files.

6. Updates and Rev C (Founder offer)

Founder buyers (the first 25 orders of the Plans PDF or Pro using code FOUNDER25, 25% off) get the Rev C package free when it is issued after the first real build. There is no guaranteed date for Rev C; it depends on the build. If no Rev C is issued within 12 months of your purchase, you may ask for a full refund within 30 days after that 12-month point, even though the normal 14-day window has passed. Other buyers get free corrections to Rev B (errata) and a discounted upgrade to Rev C when it exists.

7. Refunds

14-day no-questions refund. See the Refund Policy. A refund ends your license; please delete your copies.

8. No warranty

The plans are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. See the Safety Disclaimer.

9. Limitation of liability and assumption of risk

To the fullest extent permitted by law: you build, operate and use anything made from these plans entirely at your own risk, and the seller, its owner and contributors are not liable for any injury, death, property damage, fire, environmental damage, fines, or any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from the plans or anything built from them. If any liability is found despite this, it is limited to the amount you paid for the plans. You agree to indemnify the seller against claims from third parties arising from your build or its use. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions; in those, the exclusions apply to the maximum extent allowed.

10. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for complying with all laws, codes, permits, fire rules, air-quality rules, used-oil handling and disposal rules, insurance conditions, HOA/lease terms and zoning that apply where you build and operate. You must be an adult (18+, or the age of majority where you live) to buy.

11. General

Governing law: Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stands. These terms, the refund policy and the disclaimer are the whole agreement for the plans.
